A child's bedroom is the place where they relax, play and where they find their most beloved belongings. It is the shelter where they can unleash their imagination. For this reason, decorating a room for a child can occasionally become a complicated task.
But we must not forget who is the real owner of that space, so within its possibilities, the child must intervene in the decision.
This ideas will help to decorate your son's or your daughter's room in an easy and useful way.
To make the place for save things bigger, you can buy boxes or crates that fit under the bed, there you'll be able to save the cloth of the last season. You can also use cardboard boxes (you could find them in supermarkets) and wrap then with some resistant paper or any remnant of cloth). If you feel like it, you can build wooden drawers and even put little wheels on them. If they are bigger, is possible to use them as trunks for toys.
Use color furniture that contrast, to give the room more joy.
If he/she has many stuffed animals, it is advisable that you pick a spot or corner and hang a net or a Paraguayan hammock with all of the toys inside. (The net has to be reachable for the kid, so he can take and save them when he/she wants to).
The furniture has to agree with the height of the child.
If there's something that can't miss in a child's bedroom is a table with chairs so they could do different activities.
You could start from picking a theme or character (Disney, pooh, flowers, boats, etc) and then you could pick the rest of things (sheets, covers, curtains, paintings).
If the kid knows colors already, it is good that he/she participates with the parents when choosing the color to paint his/her room.
The ideal thing is that the room has good lightning, natural and artificial. When it comes to artificial light, you need a central and one on the wall, which should be softer than the first. The light on the wall is ideal for nights, when we have to give them some medicine or when they wake up scared.
It is better to avoid TV and computers inside the room, maybe a stereo, that will stimulate language and as they grow they could dance and even relax them.
At the time to choose some materials we have to keep some important considerations in mind.
Avoid all sorts of paints that dissolve, because its components can be really harmful, especially with kids that stick everything in their mouths. Paint must have water and be washable.
It is better that the child won't be at the house during the painting days of the room even a few days later. The best thing is to motivate them for little vacations at their grandparent's house or some close relative.
Using carpets for the floor is not convenient, because they caught a lot of dust and they get stained easily. Besides they can also originate allergies and respiratory problems, the same as paint.
Puffs are really trendy, but they are really soft, with no shape and can cause malformations in your kid's back. Let's not forget that they need to grow.
